EPDM sponge rubber D-seal strips are made from EPDM rubber, that offers outstanding resistance to weathering, ozone, UV light, and extreme temperatures (from -40°C to 120°C). They are used in various applications where environmental factors like UV exposure, temperature fluctuations, and ozone resistance are critical. It also provides compressibility and lightweight sealing.
EPDM Sponge Rubber Gasket Features
● Sponge rubber seal according drawing or samples designed, different materials to fit in available applications. Soft foam rubber extrusion materials usually in EPDM, Neoprene, Nitrile, Silicone etc.
● Due to EPDM material good performance, such as good UV, aging, weather resitance, good chemical resistance etc, and lower cost than other material, most of customer choose EPDM material.
● Can cut to a specific length, adhesive tape, cold joint or hot joint to a ring or a frame
● Hardness from 10 to 35shore A
● Lowest density such as 0.45g/cm3 also can be do, but if in big size the shape will can't control very well.
● can be adhesive tape, and adhesive tape with strong stickness, make it very easy to install.
● Singal D or double D shape, any size can be customized.
Advantages and disadvantages of EPDM sponge rubber seal
Advantages:
1) Excellent Weather Resistance
EPDM sponge rubber is highly resistant to UV rays, ozone, and oxidation, making it an ideal choice for outdoor applications. It won’t crack or degrade even after prolonged exposure to sunlight and harsh weather.
2) Wide Temperature Range
EPDM sponge rubber can endure extreme temperatures, typically from -40°C to +120°C (-40°F to +248°F).
3) Water and Air Sealing
With its closed-cell structure, EPDM sponge rubber provides a reliable seal against water, air, and moisture. This makes it effective for weatherproofing doors, windows, and enclosures in buildings or vehicles.
4) Flexibility and Compression Set Resistance
5) Noise and Vibration Dampening
6) Resistant to Mild Chemicals and Acids
7) Durability and Long Service Life
8) Lightweight
Disadvantages:
1) Poor Oil and Fuel Resistance
2) Moderate Abrasion Resistance
3) Not Recommended for Food Contact
